The home is located close to the town but in a nice, quiet, and private area. The views from all levels of the property are stunning. The bedroom is on the lowest level, then toilet up a flight of stairs, shower up one more flight, then open-air kitchen and living room on the uppermost level. The kitchen is cute but would have been difficult to prepare a full meal in due to lack of sharp knives and cooking utensils, as an fyi.
The home also connects to a trail to a lookout then into the San Marcos reserve, which was very pretty to explore and led to a lovely swimming area. As another FYI, this is a fee area, which we were unaware of and did not expect based on Laurent's description and suggestion we visit I would've appreciated if it had been mentioned , so we were scolded and forced to pay when someone saw us swimming.
Had we known we would have found the entrance and paid ahead of time, it was frustrating and confusing to be chastised and made to feel unwelcome when we had no idea what we had done wrong. Regardless, it's a lovely area worth spending an hour or two in. Beautiful cabin built into the hillsides of San Marcos. Pros: -Incredible views of the lake from all points of the property.
You can get kindling at any tienda in town. Definitely buy some. The toilet is outside. What a magical experience! This is the place for you if you love to commune with nature. Pack light, everything you need is already there; you'll be glad you did in the rigorous path up and down to entrance. A rare find, don't pass this one up! I would recommend getting a bottle of good wine in the village and enjoying the night view and the beautiful breeze alone or in a good company!
The house is very comfortably located as well, very close to the Main Street and the dock where you can get a boat to Pana or any village of the lake! Very special place, beautiful view, but quite the hike uphill. Could use a bit of updating.
